CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project.


CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction.


The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.


We are recruiting for a Lining Foreman to coordinate on-site teams to deliver relevant scopes of work in accordance with project plans and specifications to achieve effective performance.

Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Tunnel excavation using roadheaders at CBD South with a combination of sprayed concrete, rock bolts and a final concrete liner.
  • Coordinate the work and performance of multiple teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of the tunnel section of the project within the required constraints for time, cost, quality, safety and the environment
  • Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management.
  • Contribute to development of work methods and rolling short term construction programs and plan daily/weekly production work.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key personnel informed.
  • Complete progress reporting, and activities, reports for shift handovers and consistent regular reporting to the Site Manager or Project Manager
  • Ensure compliance of commercial and financial costs including budgets and the implications of directions within your authority limits
  • Manage administrative duties for direct and indirect report requirements
  • Review design documentation, read drawings, provide constructive review and oversee implementation of final designs

  • Ensure contractual mechanisms of subcontractors
  • Identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to build a risk management culture.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with CYP policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures


To be successful in this key role, you must have:


  • Trade qualifications or similar
  • 2-5 years previous construction experience in a similar role with tunnel experience
  • Experience with Roadheaders within Australia
