CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project.

 

CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction.

 

The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden, Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.

 

We are recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join our Rail Tunnel Fit out quality team.


Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Provide support to construction team for quality assurance aspects (i.e. quality system management, inspection and test plan, key processes)
  • Conduct internal audit / health check to improve quality processes and documentation compliance and provide feedback and suggestion to improve
  • Coordinating with IR and Client representative for day to day inspection and rectification for area of improvement
  • Ensure compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards and CYP SQE Risk Management process
  • Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, engineering procedures, etc.
  • Verify subcontractors’ quality performance and documentation
  • Maintain activity method statement and drawing register controls for the project
  • Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
  • Demonstrate skills in reporting on project quality performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction, Construction Management or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ engineering experience
  • Construction management and specific technical skills base relevant to program of work and discipline area
  • Wide level of planning, development and review of complex projects
  • Implementation of a process and/or product system of audits and schedules
