CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project.

 

CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction.

 

The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.

 

An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Contracts Administrator to join the team on the Melbourne Metro project.  Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the planning and management of end to end commercial management of large subcontracts and self-performed works, both directly and indirectly.  

 

Responsibilities of the role include;

 

  • Draft each building trades scopes of works including selecting relevant drawings/specifications for inclusion in the tender document.
  • Assess commercial contract departures from tenderers based on risk profile for each trade package and respond accordingly. 
  • Maintain a register of subcontractor’s correspondence, variation orders and extension of time.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications and programme in order to draft response to contractual letters including variations and extension of time claim.
  • Assess commercial and contractual risks, identify and implement appropriate controls and escalate actual or potential issues to Commercial Manager and or Project Manager
  • Ensure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and cost codes (including those allocated to direct reports) are accurately maintained and cost issues are appropriately escalated upon identification
  • Effectively manage subcontracts through all phases, including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations processing, completion and close out
  • Operate and maintain commercial and contract systems including Project Costs Reporting (PCR), Asset Registers, Commercial pack and Contract Sum

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

 

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce or equivalent
  • 5-10 years’ experience working as a Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor in the building construction industry.
  • Relevant commercial administration experience in tier 1 Building construction environment
  • Experience in all stages of subcontract management, including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, payments, claims/variations processing, completion and close out.
  • Experience in all stages of subcontract management, including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations management, completion and close out
  • Site-based engineering or construction experience
