CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project.


CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction.


The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.


We are looking for a HR Advisor to provide coordination, advice and support to people managers and the HR team. This individual will also take a role in the proactive management of employment relations on this fast paced and high profile major project. This role will suit a professional with a strong background in construction.


This role supports the timely delivery of all HR processes across the full employee lifecycle, incorporating end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, remuneration, cultural diversity, administration and HR generalist support.


Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Coordinate the on-project management of the various parent company Cadet and Graduate programs, facilitating the resource management, allocation and rotation of placements, performance management, remuneration, departure, etc. processes
  • Support and assist with the design, development and implementation of assigned HR initiatives that improve the performance, engagement, and wellbeing of our people through improved people management capability and practices.
  • Provide managers and employees with customer-focused and commercial advice and support on HR matters.
  • Provide counselling and support to managers and employees regarding problems affecting work performance. Promote the awareness of the EAP and assist employees in need of support.
  • Understand relevant awards, enterprise agreements, legislation, regulations and best practice initiatives.
  • Use the Resource Management System (RMS), and other information management systems to maintain workplace information and prepare reports on HR matters.
  • Assist to obtain recommendations on salary benchmarking and remunerations packages.
  • Support managers, and case manage as required, to resolve workplace disciplinary or grievance matters.
  • Deliver presentations, facilitate meetings and engage with various work groups to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Support the broader HR team as required, including coverage for leave, workload support, and other HR and project-wide initiatives to achieve the HR strategy.



To be successful in this key role, you must have:


  • Higher School Certificate, Certificate in Business Administration, or equivalent tertiary education
  • 5-7 years' combined experience in Human Resource roles
  • Exposure to engineering, construction, manufacturing, or similar industry
  • Proven HR administration and people management skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven ability to interpret HR policies, procedures, and industrial agreements to provide advice to management and employees
  • Verified proactive, can-do approach with the ability to show initiative within a team environment
  • Demonstrated professional and customer-focused approach
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, working with a broad range of people from varying backgrounds
  • Highly computer literate with competence in Microsoft Office and related business and communication tools
  • Recognised ability to organise, prioritise and work well under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of, and complete commitment to, employee confidentiality
  • Experience managing performance improvement and resolving employee grievances
