CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project. 

 

CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction. 

 

The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop. 

 

 

We are looking for a senior Safety Advisor to join the project to establish procedures and implement and monitor programs to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel, whilst assisting the Project Leadership Team in developing Health and Safety strategies and training for the desired work place.

 

 
Responsibilities of the role include; 

 

  • Provide support, coordination and advice of Health Safety practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplace.
  • Administer education and compliance programs for the employees, contractors and visitors within a defined workplace.
  • Initiate and coordinate accredited training programs for occupational health and safety committee members and first aid officers.
  • Conduct Health and Safety audits and inspections.
  • Identify hazards and event prevention programs.
  • Provide direction and support to the Project Leadership Team to develop and implement adequate Health and Safety training within a defined workplace.
  • Implement occupational health and safety procedures
  • Coordinate the investigation of causes on site and maintain documentation in accordance with Health and Safety procedures.
  • To provide Health and Safety specialist advice and technical input to delivery
  • Maintain records of all Health and Safety requirements at the workplace, in accordance with legislative company requirements
  • Conduct return to work coordinator activities.
     

To be successful in this key role, you must have: 

 

  • Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Construction HSE (3+years).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Quality, Environment, Project Management or other associated disciplines is desirable
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Internal Environmental Auditor Qualification also desirable
  • Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
  • Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spread sheet and email software.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret audits and reviews
