CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project. 


CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction. 


The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop. 



We are looking for a Senior Safety Advisor to join the project, and lead their team of advisors working alongside our tunnel team to delivery this iconic project.

Inviting applications from Safety professionals with a strong background working on construction or infrastructure projects within Tier1/Tier2 companies.


Responsibilities of the role include; 


  • Provide support, coordination and advice of Health Safety practices, systems and procedures including coaching and support to stakeholders across the sites
  • Administer education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within the sites
  • Initiate and coordinate training programs on varied occupational health and safety topics
  • Conduct Health and Safety audits and inspections
  • Identify hazards and event prevention programs
  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager provide team leadership and direction to the Health and Safety Advisors, as directed
  • Oversee the consultative arrangements across the sites and develop key messages to roll out to the workforce
  • Assist with team rostering, preliminary event notifications, action management and engagement with client representatives and other stakeholders
  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager drive improved compliance by stakeholders to CYPs IMS across CBD South sites
  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager with compliance and governance activities to ensure implementation of IMS and quality of safety activities
  • Provide direction and support to the Project Leadership Team to develop and implement adequate Health And Safety training within the site
  • Implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health, safety and fire prevention
  • Coordinate the investigation of causes on site and maintain documentation in accordance with Health and Safety procedures
  • To provide Health and Safety specialist advice and technical input to delivery, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations / risks are identified and communicated appropriately
  • Maintain records of all Health and Safety requirements at the work place, in accordance with legislative company requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records
  • Conduct return to work coordinator activities



To be successful in this key role, you must have: 


  • Diploma of Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Safety Lead Auditor qualification
  • Construction / Heavy Industry safety management (7+ years).
  • Experience in conducting and interpreting audit reviews.
  • Experienced Investigation Facilitator
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls.
  • Experience monitoring, reviewing and reporting on performance, compliance and defects.
