CYP Design & Construction Joint Venture (CYP D&C) has been contracted to design and build the tunnels and stations for the Metro Tunnel Project.

 

CYP D&C brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners John Holland, Lendlease, and Bouygues Construction.

 

The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.

 

We are recruiting for a Senior Safety Coordinator - Heavy Lift Specialist reporting into the Project Safety and Governance Manager to oversee project wide crane and rigging activities on this iconic Melbourne project.

 
Responsibilities of the role include;

 

  • Provide technical and field guidance to the project to ensure aims and objectives are effective and economically achieved. Support Cranes & Rigging team to ensure best for project outcomes whilst maintaining high safety and compliance standards.
  • Ensure continuity and consistency project wide compliance to GMR’s, procedures and policies, crane & rigging activities as well as performing all duties in accordance with CYP policies, processes, systems and procedures
  • Provide advice and direction on CYP lifting processes and guidance to project staff including mentor assistance with Lift Designers and those involved in Lifting Operations
  • Early engagement with teams to identify Critical and Medium lift plans, providing signoff of Medium lifts and driving signoff of Critical lifts.
  • Assist with lifting operations education and awareness across the project.
  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing across the project, which drives innovation and learnings throughout the teams. Imbed early lifting operations considerations to early design.
  • Ensure personnel actively participate in CYP policies & procedures as well as identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to build a risk management culture
  • Setup, champion and monitor a crane & rigging preferred supplier base in conjunction with General Superintendents. Regularly communicate and setup forums with operations teams, preferred suppliers and subcontractors to ensure ownership of project outcomes and lead collaboration
  • Report all potential industrial relations issues to the Area General Superintendent or Construction Manager and as required IR staff.

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

 

  • Lift Designer qualifications
  • RA (Advanced Rigging) or CO (Open Crane) High Risk Work Licence
  • 10 years construction experience in a similar role
  • Substantial Industry experience in Cranes, rigging and Heavy Haulage
  • Experience training and assessing on > $500 M Projects
