The Project

John Holland, CPB Contractors and Ghella has commenced design and construction work for the Sydney Metro West – Eastern Tunnelling Package.

With a contract worth $1.63 billion, the Eastern Tunnelling Package includes construction of 3.5-kilometre tunnels under Sydney Harbour between The Bays and the Sydney CBD, and the excavation of Pyrmont and Hunter Street stations. Starting at The Bays, tunnel boring machines will cross the harbour near the Anzac Bridge, before heading to the new Pyrmont station and then under Darling Harbour before reaching Hunter Street in the heart of the CBD.

The role

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of employees.
• Lead and manage the subcontractors and subcontractors performance.
• Building positive relationships with stakeholders and clients.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans.
• Scheduling and documentation.
• Maintaining the records of project updates, daily reports, timesheets, and material usage.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Electrical trade qualification.
• Demonstrated experience with underground mobile plant equipment.
• Tunnelling experience.
• Strong time management skills.
• In-dept construction knowledge.
• Strong understanding of OH&S site compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple tasks.
