Gold Coast Light Rail has transformed public transport on the Gold Coast, helping create an integrated network that connects more people to more places in one of Australia's most dynamic and fastest growing cities.

 

John Holland is GoldlinQ's nominated design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7 kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including eight new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.

 

Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, and the City of Gold Coast, this city-shaping project will link communities to business centres, shopping, dining, education and medical facilities and cater to the Gold Coast’s expected population growth in the coming decades. 

About this role

 

We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Works design coordinator to support the construction team throughout Project delivery.

 

Responsibilities of the role include.

 

  • Plan and control the delivery of Temporary Works design packages to ensure the achievement of quality, completion, and project objectives
  • Select and engage, then monitor the performance of external design partners within the discipline including their deliverables, costs and timeframes
  • Manage the design approval process in accordance with project requirements and program
  • Prepare budgets and schedules of design delivery for management approval then manage and report the cost of design delivery in the project life cycle
  • Manage client and stakeholder expectations and communicate effectively with the project team
  • Supervise the work of subordinate design and drafting staff to ensure project requirements are met
  • Understand design compliance and reporting procedures and processes and leadership in the communication of requirements
  • Foster the interaction between design and construction teams to maximise innovation and project success.
  • Ensure that JH Safety in Design requirements are met.

There are a few essentials we require for this role which are,

 

  • Tertiary Qualification in Architecture, Building, Construction, Engineering or Quantity Surveying
  • 3+ years in design or technical management roles on significant projects
  • Multi-discipline project experience in Building, Construction and Design
  • Proven commercial and legislative compliance skills and design frameworks and systems
  • Demonstrated competencies in Head Contract and Subcontract understanding and interpretation
  • Strong stakeholder management with major consultant partners
  • Awareness of risk management principles and how design can impact operational risk
  • Strong time and cost management skills in timely delivery of design and management of both the costs of preparing design and the costs of the works
