John Holland manages the prestigious Country Regional Network (CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines.

 

We are currently seeking a highly analytical individual with strong communication skills to take on the position of Third Party Works Officer within our team based in Mayfield, NSW.  The purpose of this role is to manage the process of Third Party applications enabling external parties to access and conduct works/activities on the CRN. This opportunity would be perfect for an engineer looking to take on an office based role that can offer some flexibility. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Provide reviews of technical plans and drawings associated with applications to assess compliance to CRN Engineering standards
  • Assess the degree to which applications comply with John Holland Rail CRN requirements
  • Liaise directly with internal and external professionals (engineers, design consultants, other organisation principals) as a means of providing efficient resolution to application issues
  • Identify and recognise risks prior to work commencing and communicate to relevant stakeholders to ensure all risks and management options are identified
  • Ensure that all recommendations are documented, evidenced and supported by the appropriately qualified stakeholders
  • Ensure all activities comply with legal, professional and ethical standards

To be successful in this key role, it is preferable that you have;

  • An engineering background with experience in an engineering environment
  • Previous experience working with design or construction projects within Rail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to analyse and problem solve with strong attention to detail
