We are currently looking for an Overhead Wiring Supervisor to join our team based in Spotswood. Reporting to the Overhead Wiring Manager, the role will support our Rail Infrastructure Services business as well as John Hollands Major Projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the Overhead Wiring team in all aspects of Rail Construction as well as liaising with key internal stakeholders.


There will be a requirement for nightshift as well as weekend work. Applicants must have strong people skills as well as a minimum of 1 - 2 years’ experience in a similar role.


Responsibilities of the role will also include;
- Coordinate the work and performance of multiple teams & subcontractors to achieve outcomes
- Provide and take leadership responsibility in health, safety and environment management
- Contribute to development of work methods and rolling short term construction programs and plan daily/weekly production work

- Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key personnel informed
- Complete progress reporting, and activities, reports for shift handovers and consistent regular reporting to the Superintendent or Project Manager
- Read and understand plans, review design documentation, read drawings, and provide constructive review and implementing of final designs
- Apply contractual mechanisms of subcontractors
- Identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to build a risk management culture
- Select, train and develop leading hands and ensure the observance of safety, other work standards and fair and reasonable application of industrial agreements
- Maintain effective consultation with various workers’ representatives and committees on industrial and safety subjects handling issues as they arise and referring major issues to the Project Manager

To be successful in this key role, you must have;
-Trade Qualification Certificate III in Rail Traction, Distribution or Transmission
- 1-2 years previous construction experience in a similar role.
- Technical competency and understanding in the area that supervising


The following would be advantageous;
- Qualifications and training, e.g. Diploma, Building/Construction, Project Management
- Metro Trains Melbourne Traction Wiring Systems Experience
- Skill in review of design documents, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review and implement design plans.
- Leading Hand experience
- People and Performance Management of subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour
- Yarra Trams overhead wiring experience
- Pilling and associated civil experience including the installation of mast foundations

The role will require a reasonable amount of overtime as well as weekend shut down work and nightshift.
