About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?

 

As a Senior Structures Supervisor on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 Project, your responsibilities will involve overseeing and managing all aspects of structures works. This includes planning, coordinating and construction of various type of bridges (box girder, through girder, FRP), retaining wall structures (FRP, piling, post and panel, soil nails & shotcrete, reinforced earth) and box culvert underpasses.
You will be required to work closely with other disciplines across multiple sites to ensure works are delivered in accordance with the project’s requirements, in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
The role will be site based, with roles available across our multiple sites. 

Project Description

 

Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities. 
The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works. 
Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla.

Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;

 

Overall responsibility for the role on this high-profile major project includes:

 

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the structural elements of the B2A project, ensuring excellence in execution, delivery within timeframes, and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Directly manage and mentor a team of supervisors and on-site personnel, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Uphold exceptional standards of quality and safety, implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely with project management to develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and progress reports.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and senior management, maintaining transparent communication and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Address complex technical and operational challenges, providing expert guidance and innovative solutions.
  • Promote John Holland's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship throughout project execution.
  • Facilitate training and professional development opportunities for team members, ensuring skill enhancement and career progression.
     

To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the civil construction industry, with a strong emphasis on structural projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage subcontractors effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
