About the Role
An opportunity exists for an experienced Plant Maintenance Superintendent to join our Rail Plant Services team based in either Seven Hills, NSW or Rutherford NSW. Reporting into the Plant Operations Manager (NSW/VIC/QLD), you’ll be accountable for the planning and delivery of all relevant scope of plant maintenance works within the Rail Plant Services business in NSW. Provide effective leadership and sustainable working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to contribute to site safety, quality and environment controls and risk management.



Responsibilities of the role include (but are by no means limited to);


  • Manage plant performance, reliability and effectiveness of maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure that plant and equipment maintenance on all Rail projects is not only effectively managed, but also effectively documented and recorded
  • Responsible for seeking agreement with customers regarding adequate downtime notification for the servicing of equipment
  • Lead, manage and mentor a team of Supervisors to ensure works performed in-house, by subcontractors or suppliers are in line with contractual agreements
  • Lead and drive the reporting of plant utilisation rates, maintenance repairs, project recovery costs and key performance indicators for the Rail Plant Services
  • Manage the building maintenance and day to day operations of the Plant Maintenance facilities in Seven Hills and Rutherford.
  • Ensure compliance in commercial and financial management including meeting budgets and identifying cost saving measures
  • Make technical and engineering recommendations to ensure that all legislative equipment criteria are met and ensure equipment, materials and services comply with specifications and Australian standards.



To be successful in this key role, you must have;


  • Relevant trade or engineering qualifications
  • Previous experience in a superintendent role with a proven record in leadership and risk management with approx. 5 - 10 years in a similar position.
  • Experience in plant maintenance operations for a large fleet of rail plant – 1200+ assets.
  • Proven track record with rail, construction or mining industry experience in operations of similar scale with technical knowledge of plant & equipment including rail tampers, regulators, road rail vehicles, EWP’s, loaders, excavators, minor powered plant, truck & vehicle fleets.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing employees and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrated competency in effective safety, environment and quality and resource management systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of productivity, utilisation and planning principles and tools such as CMMS system – preferably Maximo or other systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Ellipse.
