About the opportunity
We are expanding our Sunshine Coast operations significantly, to reflect the enormous State and Federal Government investment into the Sunshine Coast over the next 10-15 years.
As part of this growth, we are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to coordinate on-site engineering functions relating to hard rock drill and blast tunnelling, to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.
Responsibilities of the role include
- Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates, including site engineers, project engineers and cost / planning resources
- Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
- Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
- Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme workloads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
- Ensure that project engineering completion is on time and within budget. Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings
- Produce accurate forecasts of costs and revenue
- Participate in planning future requirements including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant and labour
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction work
To be successful in this key role, you must have
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 5 years tunnelling experience, with experience with hard rock drill and blast tunnelling ideal
- 7-10+ years' postgraduate experience, ideally in a tier one contractor setting
- Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports
- Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk
- Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety
