Job Description

John Holland manages the innovative Country Regional Network (CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines.

We are seeking to hire a Community Relations Officer based in either Mayfield or Parramatta to provide advice to the project on community and stakeholder relation plans and strategies. 

Your role will be to further develop and implement stakeholder management plans to project a strong and positive image of all related works and the Project to the community, managing key stakeholders and related issues and effectively respond to feedback and concerns.

Participate in stakeholder meetings both internally and externally including community reference groups, identifying and managing issues and risks pertaining to the project escalating accordingly.   

Liaise with John Holland team, community and key stakeholders to respond to project 24/7 1300 number queries and effectively manage concerns raised, liaising with Project Managers to ensure community and stakeholders are notified in advance of works in accordance with the Community Relations strategy and relevant EPL requirements.

Additional requirements including maintaining the stakeholder management system to record and track correspondence with external stakeholders, producing relevant reports as per internal and external requirements; manage community events; source content to support internal and external communications.


To succeed in this role, it is expected you will have;

Tertiary Degree (Bachelor level) or certificate or relevant experience in areas such as public relations, journalism, stakeholder management, marketing.

2+ years’ experience in communications and stakeholder management related to major infrastructure projects or relevant experience gained within major organisations in rail, construction, government or consultancy.

This is a part time role (3 days per week) based in either Mayfield or Parramatta.
