About the Project

John Holland in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) are delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland.

This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville).

The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods.

About the Role

 

Working on a 14/7 FIFO roster - As an Electrical Supervisor, you will lead supervising the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

 

This includes troubleshooting any issues that arise during the installation or maintenance process and ensure that effective safety practices are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

 

•    Contribute to a safe working culture

•    Effectively coordinate and supervise Electrical trade contractors

•    Ensure all workers are inducted onto site before commencing work

•    Monitor construction progress and compliance to safety and environmental standards 

•    Ensure all operations are performed in accordance with agreed safe methods of work

•    Forward planning daily/weekly/monthly construction work including resource requirements and trade coordination.

Requirements for the role:

 

•    Relevant Electrical qualification/Certification

•    Site experience in a similar role, leading a team

•    Experience working in an underground/FIFO environment

•    Demonstrated commercial experience includes planning up to 4 weeks ahead and monitoring of resources within area of accountability

•    Proven experience in leading a safety culture
