About The Project

 

At John Holland in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) are delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville).

 

The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods.

About The Role

  • Implement planning strategies and audits / reviews for projects.
  • Ensure project planning activities are conducted in accordance with JH policies and procedures.
  • Ensure monitoring and reporting of Project Controls processes are successfully set-up and implemented on projects.
  • Highlight any issues that may impact the effective, efficient and professional planning resources and support to the project including implementing standard processes and reports.
  • Interface with project team, partners, clients, stakeholders, consultants, designers, vendors, subcontractors for management of the planning function in accordance with established procedures
  • Proactively lead a planning and controls culture across the project based on best practice and with a focus on risk management, cost control and SQE.

 

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
  • Previous experience in a planning role on infrastructure projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with project teams
