About the Project - Kidston
John Holland in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) are delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland.
This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville).
The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower
reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods.
About the Role
We are looking for a Project Engineer with a background in FRP to join our project.
Responsibilities of the role include;
- Work within the project team to assist with scoping and cost estimating of works, updating the asset management system and compiling of relevant QA & safety documentation including a Master Project Schedule.
- Provide required reports to the Superintendent to meet monthly reporting timelines.
- Assist all members where required in ensuring all elements of QA & Environment Management Systems are maintained
- Preparation of both short- and longer-term detailed construction plans and targets as required.
- Work within the project team to assist with scoping and cost estimating of works
- Provide required reports to the Superintendent to meet monthly reporting timelines.
- Assist with the preparation of site budgets and reports.
- Assist the Site supervision in routinely providing all relevant information required for the timely compilation and submission of all necessary.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A recognised degree in Engineering, or other relevant discipline.
- Experience working with FRP installations
- Minimum experience of 8 years in large multi-facet projects - Tunneling and mining exp preferred
- Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk.
- Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety.
