About the opportunity:

John Holland in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) are delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km North West of Townsville).

  • The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods.
  • This project received funding from ARENA as part of ARENA's Advancing Renewables Program and is a gamechanger for the clean energy industry worldwide as it is an entirely new approach to large-scale energy storage.
  • This is a FIFO position and will be on a 2:1 roster.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior CCMS / Hexagon Engineer to support the successful delivery of the project through the management and optimisation of Hexagon Smart Completions. This role will be responsible for overseeing systemisation, completions reporting, certification, turnover planning and handover readiness, ensuring systems progress efficiently from construction through commissioning and into operations. Working across multiple project functions, you will play a critical role in providing transparency, governance and assurance throughout the completions lifecycle.

What you will do:

  • Lead the administration, governance and optimisation of the project's Completions and Commissioning Management System (CCMS) using Hexagon Smart Completions.
  • Manage systemisation structures, subsystem boundaries, certification frameworks and turnover requirements across the project.
  • Maintain and coordinate asset data, tag registers, certification records, ITR matrices and turnover documentation within the CCMS platform.
  • Monitor and report on construction completion, mechanical completion, commissioning readiness and system handover progress.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, quality, commissioning and subcontractor teams to ensure completion records are accurate, compliant and ready for handover.
  • Support planning and execution of system walkdowns, punch management and close-out activities.
  • Ensure Inspection and Test Records (ITRs), redlines, blue-lines and handover documentation are completed and approved in accordance with project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards and reporting tools to provide visibility of completions and turnover performance.
  • Support operational readiness and system handover activities by ensuring project data integrity and traceability.
  • Provide guidance and training to project personnel on CCMS processes, requirements and best practice.
  • Identify process improvements and drive consistency across project completions and turnover activities.
  • Promote and maintain compliance with project safety, quality and environmental requirements.

What we are looking for

  • Experience working with Hexagon Smart Completions or similar Completions and Commissioning Management Systems (CCMS).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting completions, commissioning, turnover or operational readiness activities on major infrastructure, energy, mining, oil & gas or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of systemisation, certification, inspection and test records (ITRs), punch management and handover processes.
  • Experience managing large data sets, asset registers, turnover records and project reporting systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and Power BI experience will be highly regarded.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to engage effectively with engineering, construction, quality, commissioning and client stakeholders.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards and performance metrics for project controls and management teams.
  • Well-developed communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a remote FIFO environment on a 2:1 roster.
