TRANS4M RAIL

 

The Narrabri to North Star (N2NS) section is one of 13 projects that complete Inland Rail and is an upgrade of approximately 171 km of track within the existing rail corridor and construction of approximately 1.6 km of new rail track. The works are required to accommodate the operation of future planned 1,800 m double-stacked freight trains.

The contract for the delivery of Narrabri to North Star (N2NS) was awarded to Trans4m Rail in October 2020.  Trans4m Rail combines the experience of John Holland and SEE Civil. 

Trans4m Rail will be responsible for the construction of roads, level crossings, drainage, bridges, upgrading the existing rail line and a new section of rail line.

The role will have a pivotal part in shaping the environmental aspect of the project. The Environmental Advisor is responsible for providing specialist technical direction, advice, support, and assistance on environmental matters to the project and project team. This role will contribute to promoting awareness and understanding of the principles of environmental management as they apply throughout the project lifecycle.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provide appropriate support and advice regarding the environmental aspects, risks, and requirements under state legislation.
  • Coordinate and assist the project’s environmental functions and objectives.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and inspections on site.
  • Undergo audits and inspections to assess environmental performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide expert knowledge, support, and skills to facilitate risk control and promote a positive environmental culture on the project.
  • Support and help ensure accuracy of appropriate planning and forecasting for the delivery and formulate and input data for reporting.
  • Provide advice and support to key internal stakeholders regarding environmental risks management measures.
  • Help manage the project environmental management activities in a manner that is compliant with the requirement of relevant applicable state planning and environmental agencies and bodies.
  • Support the Projects Environmental Manager in other key initiatives and responsibilities as required.

 

ROLE SPECIFIC

 

  • Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Science or an environmental related discipline.
  • Current drivers’ licence and Construction Induction Card (white card)
  • 3+ years' experience in an Environmental Advisory role on a major infrastructure project.  
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory compliance, and strong accuracy to report on monthly reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a wide range of environmental functional activities.
  • Well-developed communication skills both verbally and written. 
  • Ability to problem solve and be adaptable on site.
  • Strong relationship building skills at all levels and able to gain credibility quickly and effectively with an ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.

 

Project Details

  • Office in the Main street of Moree, NSW
  • 2/1 Roster (Travel in Thursday and Travel out Thursday)
  • FIFO (Brisbane or Sydney) or DIDO within fatigue guidelines (4-5 hours from Moree, NSW)
  • Camp accommodation + all meals and transport onsite provided
