John Holland is seeking a Senior People Advisor to join the team in Melbourne. Reporting to the People Manager – Vic/SA/TAS/NZ the primary function of this role is to lead the development and implementation of the people strategy in the region.

Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Supporting the People Manager to design and implement key initiatives that support the company’s People strategy in the region
  • Support project leadership teams with their workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, employee engagement and performance management
  • Contributing to the development and embedding of HR strategies, policies and procedures
  • Supporting the People Manager in the development of the region’s business plans in alignment with group initiatives
  • Creating and leading programs on people initiatives as required
  • Overseeing the selection and development of key staff to meet the regions needs
  • Upholding governance and compliance requirements and optimising people capability to achieve business outcomes
  • Building strong relationships across the business and embedding the HR function
  • Providing general HR advice and connecting projects to our regional and corporate HR teams
  • Contributing to the development of appropriate financial reporting and budgets which may include recommendations and appropriate action

 

 

To be successful is this key role, you must have:

 

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Human Resource Management, Business Management, Law or Employee Relations.
  • 5+ years’ experience providing operational HR leadership and support across the whole HR function.
  • Expert knowledge of human resources legislation and best practice
  • Demonstrable experience dealing with employee relations and performance management in a unionised environment.
  • Proven experience in the implementation of compliance and governance processes and practices. 
  • Experience designing and implementing employee programs
