Contract Administrator – NWPA

North Western Program Alliance has successfully completed 3 level crossing removals and a station upgrade. It is an Alliance made up of 4 partners and has a pipeline of future works that will go for the next 5 years. NWPA is currently going through a period of growth that will see additional projects awarded to the alliance with greater value, making it a major project. NWPA’s focus is on making a difference for the community and providing the best chance for their staff to develop and grow in this fast-paced environment.


We are currently looking for Contracts Administrator to join our team working on the level crossing removal project, located in the North West.


As Contract Administrator you will assist in preparation, administration, cost control and close out of sub-contracts.


Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Write/review scopes of works and tender packages to accompany requests for quotations issued to subcontractors for our projects
  • Support and drive the tender review process to ensure the award of all subcontractors within the required time frame and budget
  • Minimise all subcontractor variation claims and elimination of claims where possible
  • Interpret specifications and drawings so as to understand scope of works for the project at Head Contract and Sub Contract scope level
  • Check compliance and prepare reporting on commercial performance of the sub-contract
  • Process and recommend progress claims for work completed and refer disputed claims by subcontractors to the relevant manager for decision
  • Close out the sub-contract at the end of each project


To be successful in this key role, you must have;

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or equivalent
  • A trade or construction background with a good understanding of construction methodologies
  • At least 5 years’ of relevant experience in the construction and engineering industry, preferably from multi-disciplined rail projects
  • Experience from administration of subcontracts of varying values and complexities
  • Good negotiation, analytical, verbal and writing skills.
  • Ability to write and review scope of works
