About the project – SA Water Capital Delivery Programme:
In a JV with Guidera O’Connor, John Holland is delivering capital projects for SA Water under a four-year framework agreement for up to $500m, focused on water services across southern metropolitan Adelaide and regional areas of SA.
About the role:
The SA Water Capital Delivery Program team is currently looking for an experienced HV/LV Design Manager to join the team, based in the Corporate SA Water project office in Adelaide CBD.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design delivery process, function, and team within the project life cycle to maximise the winning of work and deliver successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Plan and control the delivery of project design to ensure the achievement of quality, completion, and project objectives.
- Select and engage, then monitor the performance of external design partners within the discipline, including their deliverables, costs, and timeframes.
- Prepare budgets and schedules of design delivery for management approval, then manage and report the cost of design delivery in the project life cycle.
- Produce Work Orders for subcontractors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate and manage different packages of work, including SAPN, consultants, and our investigations team.
- Conduct or arrange internal reviews of work to ensure quality before submission to the client.
- Ensure compliance with client design standards such as TS104, TS107, and other applicable standards.
- Supervise the work of subordinate design and drafting staff to ensure project requirements are met.
- Understand design compliance and reporting procedures and processes and lead in the communication of requirements.
- Foster interaction between design and construction teams to maximise innovation and project success.
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, and procedures.
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- Tertiary Qualification in Architecture, Building, Construction, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
- Essential background in HV/LV electrical design.
- Typical 5–10 years in technical management roles on significant projects.
- 5+ years of Design experience.
- 5–8 years of Construction experience.
- Multi-discipline project experience in Building, Construction, and Design.
- Proven commercial and legislative compliance skills and design frameworks and systems.
- Ideally be Adelaide-based, or able to attend Adelaide regularly (approximately once a fortnight).
