Job Description

The T2D Project is the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, and will complete 78km of non-stop, traffic light-free motorway between Gawler and Old Noarlunga. Drivers will be able to bypass 21 sets of traffic lights as they travel through two separate tunnels, connected by an open motorway.

A consortium comprising John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia preferred has been selected as the Alliance partner to deliver this project.

The scope of works of the T2D project includes delivering all M&E system for the project which include Power distribution, Fire Protection, Tunnel ventilation, Communications systems, ITS and the overarching Control Monitoring System.

Long Description

The T2D M&E team is seeking an ITS Lead Engineer to oversee the design, procurement, and construction stages for the ITS systems for our T2D project in Adelaide.

ITS comprises of various subsystems: Electronic signage, Traffic surveillance and detection, Ramp management systems and Tunnel closure systems.

The candidate will prepare design reports and specifications for the ITS systems components, liaise with interfacing groups (CMS provider, Surface ITS designer, other systems leads and designer) during the various stages of the project to ensure smooth and timely delivery of the works.

Long Description

Project Management:

•    Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of ITS devices and services during the design, procurement, and construction stages of the project.
•    Ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
•    Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, construction teams, and stakeholders to ensure integrated project delivery.

Design Management:

•    Prepare technical specifications for ITS devices and services, included but not limited to: Traffic electronics signs (Message signs, Lane usage signs), CCTV cameras, AVID cameras, Traffic loops, ramps management systems, Tunnel closure systems (boom gates and median gates), motorist telephones, control cabinets and roadside cabinets.
•    Review design report, documentations and drawings prepared by the Alliance designer for the surface motorway ITS to ensure consistency with overall system design.
•    Review design report prepared by Control & Monitoring System (CMS) provider with relation to the ITS systems to ensure consistency and compliance with ITS devise and services.
•    Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Procurement Management:

•    Develop specifications and requirements for ITS components and equipment.
•    Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of necessary materials and equipment.
•    Evaluate and approve suppliers and vendors, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

Construction Management:

•    Oversee the implementation and installation of ITS components during the construction phase.
•    Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
•    Address and resolve any engineering issues or defects that arise during construction.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

•    ensure all ITS components meet project technical requirements and performance standards.

About you

Qualifications:


•    Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronic Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
•    Ideally 5 - 10 years of experience in ITS engineering.
•    Strong understanding of ITS standards and regulations and communication networks.
•    Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
•    Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
