About the project – SA Water Capital Delivery Programme:

In a JV with Guidera O’Connor, John Holland is delivering capital projects for SA Water under a four-year framework agreement for up to $500m, focused on water services across southern metropolitan Adelaide and regional areas of SA.

About the role:

The SA Water Capital Delivery Program team is currently looking for an enthusiastic Junior Contract Administrator to join the team, based in the Corporate SA Water project office in Adelaide CBD.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Conduct initial investigations with subcontractors to clarify the organisation’s conditions relating to contracts for prospective projects
  • Maintain a register of subcontractors
  • Ensure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and cost codes are accurately maintained and keep project management teams abreast of any costs issues immediately upon identification
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure that Code compliance is maintained at all times
  • Check compliance and prepare reporting on commercial performance of the contract
  • Support Project Managers and Project Engineers to evaluate and finalise variations update variation registers to keep up to date records.
  • Process and recommend progress claims for work completed and refer disputed claims by subcontractors to the relevant manager for decision
  • Undertake general business administration.
  • Assist in preparation of various subcontracts and supplier contracts under Contracts Manager’s guidance.
  • Provide accurate information and customer service to clients, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders, while supporting team members and upholding confidentiality in all duties.

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce or equivalent
  • Post graduate qualifications e.g. graduate certificate, graduate diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Business, Construction, Property, Quantity Surveying, Law or other associated disciplines will be highly regarded (but not mandatory) 
  • Relevant commercial administration experience in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or associated disciplines
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant software packages such as Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and exposure to a contract management system (CRM)
  • Experience working as a Junior Contracts Administrator in the construction and engineering industry
  • Experience in sub-contracts management will be highly regarded
