About the Alliance
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, comprising of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has successfully secured the contract to deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
We are excited to have the opportunity to work with the Australian and South Australian governments to deliver this city shaping project that will provide safe and efficient journeys for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists, connect open spaces and recreational facilities, and unlock economic opportunities and growth for South Australia.
The project scope is concentrated on a 10.5km motorway, including more than 4kms of twin three lane tunnels, road and bridge construction and complex M&E installations. Open to traffic in 2031, the T2D alliance will offer the people of Adelaide an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project, career stability and the
opportunity for career progression and development.
About the Role
To lead the development, implementation and management of a workplace strategy aimed at reducing disease and injury arising from an occupational hygiene hazard.
What you will do;
• Identify needs, develop and lead a health monitoring program
• Studying existing equipment, materials, products, processes and general working conditions to identify hazards present in the workplace which may impact the health or wellbeing of the workforce
• Monitoring the potential exposure to harmful substances in the workplace and interpreting and communicating these results to the relevant people.
• Recommending control measures to minimise exposure and developing strategies which will control the hazards at the workplace.
• Develop processes, implement and monitor programs to provide a healthy working environment for all personnel and advising on how to eliminate or reduce hazards
• Participating in risk assessments and developing management strategies for eliminating or controlling the hazards.
• Communicating the legal requirements of occupational hygiene, to the workforce and management.
• Provide strategic advice, assistance and support to project teams across all aspects of health and hygiene
• Champion the implementation of the Occupation Health and Hygiene Management Plans and ECPs
• Coordinate and conduct health hygiene training/workshops, assessments and inductions for the project
• Participate in the development of the health and well-being programs for the project and support implementation of any associated actions
• Undertake regular health monitoring activities, ensuring compliance to safety management systems, contractor agreements/contracts and relevant legislation.
• Participate in an provide guidance to contractors and stakeholders during on site safety engagements, inspections and audits.
• Conduct health and safety audits and inspections relating to health and hygiene risk profile
• Establish and implement management process and ensure incidents are effectively managed and costs are identified
• Report any non-conformances in a timely manner.
What we are looking for;
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Hygiene, Health and Safety, Science, Engineering or other associated disciplines
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a professional capacity as an occupational hygienist
Suitably skilled to obtain the AIOH provisional or full membership, equivalent to international recognition and overseas certification
Experience in core occupational hygiene skills and knowledge to minimise incidence
Certified Occupational Hygienest or working / willing to work towards attaining
