From minor rail maintenance to major design and construct projects John Holland can offer a variety of work and career opportunities both in New Zealand and Australia. Due to the recent award of projects in Auckland and Wellington and an exciting pipeline of work we are looking to grow our team.

Electrical worker- Rail

John Holland is looking to offer suitably skilled individuals an opportunity to join the rail industry in a fast-tracked upskilling program based in either Auckland or Wellington. This program is focused on identifying suitable talent and skills that complement the Traction Line Mechanic skill set to then train you to the required competency level to fulfill this or similar roles.

 

We are looking for people who have previously obtained one or more of the trade certificates, tickets or significant experience (5+ years) in the below fields;

 

Relevant Role descriptions:

  • Electrical worker
  • Electrician
  • Hi-Rail Operator
  • Distribution Linesman
  • Transmission Linesman
  • Rigger
  • Substation maintainer
  • Experienced electrical trades assistant
  • Electrical trade-related apprentice

 

Relevant Qualifications/ experience:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering Theory and Practice (Trade) (level 4) or equivalent
  • Distribution line mechanic with New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) (level 4) or equivalent
  • Transmission line mechanic with National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Transmission) or equivalent
  • Substation Maintainer competency-based training program that incorporates the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Substation Maintenance (Level 4) or equivalent
  • HV/ LV switching experience/ qualification within a DC or AC network (highly desirable)
  • EWRB registered apprentices
  • EWRB registered trade assistants
  • Authorised riggers
  • Working at heights certificate/ Harness training
  • Valid in date Pole top rescue training
  • Track Protection Basic Machine (Hi-rail).
  • EWP certificate
  • Experience working within a brownfield rail environment
  • Class 4 licence
  • Experienced crane/ hi-ab operator
  • Dogman

 

 

Preference will be given to local New Zealand talent. However, we will consider EOI’s from international candidates if you meet key aspects of the above requirements and are looking to relocate to New Zealand on a permanent basis.
