Job Description

John Holland manages the prestigious Country Regional Network (CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines.

 

We currently have a Maintenance Engineer position available for an individual with extensive Track experience. The role will be based in Bathurst, NSW. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include;

  • Oversee technical and engineering aspects of the delivery of the technical maintenance plan and provide support to the maintenance team in meeting quality, safety, budget and performance targets
  • Manage the defect management process to ensure safe, effective and efficient operation of trains
  • Liaise with the planner/scheduler to prioritise and scope corrective maintenance work
  • Support the process of project identification, prioritisation and scoping of major and minor projects
  • Provide technical and engineering support to team members as required
  • Manage the track stability process for the district, including carrying out the primary and secondary analysis
  • Manage and operate the specialist technical equipment for track measurement as required
  • Engage and manage subcontractors as and when required on behalf of the maintenance team
  • Participate in the process of developing the asset condition report, asset management plans and other similar strategic plans as a key stakeholder and subject matter expert

To be successful in this key role, you must have;

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or relevant and equivalent industry experience
  • Diploma of Asset Management, Infrastructure, or Maintenance Management 
  • 5+ years experience on rail-based projects
  • Project Engineer and operational experience
  • The flexibility to travel when required.
