About (B2N) Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Project:
John Holland and Seymour Whyte have been engaged to deliver the Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade Stage 1 project. The project is set to increase the capacity and reliability of the North Coast Line, enabling more efficient travel and improved passenger and freight connections between the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane and beyond.
As construction of B2N gets under way, John Holland is actively looking for a talented Possessions Coordinator to join the team and play a key role in the successful delivery of this iconic Sunshine Coast project.
About the Position:
Reporting to the Rail Systems Manager, the Integrated Possession Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of rail track possessions to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of B2N’s construction activities within Queensland Rail Corridor.
The role ensures that all possession activities are planned, resourced, authorised and executed in compliance with QR’s operational, safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, submit and manage possession requests in accordance with Queensland Rails requirements and timeframes (Track Authority & Local Possession Authority)
- Coordinate all aspects of rail possessions including track access, isolation requirements, and logistics
- Facilitate possession planning meetings by chairing, coordinate and monitor the B2N T-minus Possession meetings
- Coordinate and manage B2N Safeworking Requirements (Protection Officers & Recipients)
- Manage safeworking resources cost against budget (monthly forecasting)
- Liaise between internal project teams, Queensland Rail Corridor Access Team, interface contractors to ensure possession windows are maximised, risks are minimised, and all works
- Validate and approve safety clarification forms prior to be submitted to Queensland Rail
- Manage client and stakeholder expectations and communicate effectively with the project team
- Represent B2N in Network Access Forums both with Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR) and Queensland Rail (QR)
- Ensure the T-minus tracker is kept updated
- Complete in a timely manner Extended possession submissions to TMR’s Delivery Sequencing Group
- Foster the interaction between the B2N Delivery Team maximise innovation and project success
- Coordinate Track Authority Planning and submissions to Queensland Rail
- Perform all duties in accordance with B2N policies, processes, systems, and procedures
- Provide clear communication of possession details to Safeworking personnel and all affected stakeholders
- Set up and oversea possessions on the day, including access points, Safeworking arrangements, and worksite protection
- Monitor possession progress to ensure adherence to schedule and safety standards
- Identify, escalate and assist in resolving issues that may impact possession performance
- Support the compilation of possession site packs
- Prepare post possession reports, lessons learnt and recommendations for process improvement
Key Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in possession planning and management of possessions
- Knowledge of Queensland Rail’s Network Rules, Procedures and Safeworking systems
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple possessions and deadlines
- Advanced financial and commercial management including meeting budgets
- People and performance management including the performance of subcontractors
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment
- Competence in completing and validating possession-related documentation and forms
- Ability to lead meetings, chair discussions, and influence outcomes
- Sound problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Exposure to projects in excess of $100M
