About you and the role
John Holland and Seymour Whyte will be delivering the Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade Stage 1. The project is set to increase the capacity and reliability of the North Coast Line, enabling more efficient travel and improved passenger and freight connections between the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane and beyond.
We are looking for a Rail Safety Manager with Queensland Rail (QR) experience to join the project team based in Beerburrum, QLD.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Driving continuous safety improvement on the B2N project in collaboration with the project leadership team and providing active coaching to build safety capabilities throughout the project.
- Supporting the delivery of broader safety strategies developed by our joint venture (JV) partners and undertaking day-to-day activities to support the broader safety team.
- Acting as a coach and mentor to the B2N safety team to enhance their capabilities and build a high-performing team.
- Providing specialist safety knowledge to JV partners and subcontractors to ensure the implementation of safe work practices.
- Developing and administering education and compliance programs for employees, clients, contractors, and visitors.
- Mentoring key stakeholders to better understand Railway integration and rail safety systems management.
- Facilitate Rail Workshops.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in safety management on QR projects, with a strong understanding of QR systems and established relationships with QR.
- Bachelor degree in Quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Management or related field.
- Knowledge of Rail Safety legislation and statutes, particularly those related to Comcare, and the ability to interpret any relevant statutes or legislation applicable to the project.
- Previous experience working on major projects with a tier 1 or tier 2 contractor.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders.
