About the project:

A 30 ML/d seawater desalination plant will be delivered at Belmont South NSW, to provide weather independent supply to the community in the lower Hunter region.

 

Seen as one of the largest capital projects in the water sector in Hunter region, the community is expecting a sustainable outcome for the nature of a seawater desalination plant. It is also the first project in Hunter Water pursuing an IS Rating, as part of its Carbon Neutral Strategy by 2035.

 

We are looking for an experienced Completions Lead to join the Belmont Desal project based in Newcastle, NSW.

Your Role:

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of all completions activities, ensuring achievement of contractual completion and handover milestones.
  • Develop and implement the Completions and Defect Management framework aligned to contract requirements and project delivery strategy.
  • Own and manage the completions database, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting and close-out of all completion deliverables across the project lifecycle.
  • Drive a strong completions culture across the project, ensuring teams understand handover requirements, certification processes and deliverables.
  • Lead defect identification, inspection, reporting and close-out processes to ensure compliance with completion requirements and certification readiness.
  • Manage interfaces with client, Independent Certifier and key stakeholders to facilitate approval, acceptance and certification of works.
  • Chair completions working groups and close-out forums to drive progress and resolve issues impacting handover milestones.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of completion documentation including turnover packages, quality records and as-built information.
  • Work closely with construction, engineering and commissioning teams to ensure systems are ready for handover (but not responsible for executing commissioning).
  • Monitor completion progress against program and proactively identify risks to completion, implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Support contractual close-out activities, including conditions precedent and completion certification requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to completions engineers and coordinators, building capability across the function.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • Proven experience in a Completions Lead / Completions Manager role on major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of contractual completion, certification and handover processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing completions systems and databases
  • Proven ability to manage large volumes of completion deliverables and drive close-out to meet program milestones.
  • Experience coordinating defect management and progressive asset handover.
  • Strong knowledge of Independent Certifier processes, completion certification and contractual milestones.
  • Established stakeholder management skills across clients, certifiers and delivery teams.
  • Experience working within a principal contractor environment on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with experience guiding completions teams.
