About our TEK Lift & Shift Services Team

TEK’s Lift & Shift team provides full lifecycle construction engineering support to precontract and project delivery teams across all aspects of materials handling, logistics, including cranes, lifting, heavy haulage and specialised lift and transport. With a focus on developing tailored and cost-effective solutions, the L&S team supports bid and project teams to optimise construction methods, including equipment selection, and ensure compliance requirements are met. The team draws on its extensive experience across many industry sectors and extensive library of construction methods to provide onsite and offsite support.

About the Position

We are currently looking for an experienced Heavy Lift Construction Engineer to join our TEK (Technology, Engineering and Knowledge) division based in our Fortitude Valley office, in Brisbane QLD. Working within our TEK Lift & Shift Services team, reporting into our Senior Heavy Lift Engineer you will be accountable for providing construction engineering support to during pre-contracts and project delivery including detailed planning providing support and assistance with temporary works, equipment selection of cranes and specialised lift/ shift equipment.


Your key tasks will include (but not limited to):


  • Ensure all critical and high-risk lift & transport activities are planned and appropriately managed from pre-contracts through delivery
  • Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, compliance to engineering procedures etc.
  • Provide lift and logistical support to assigned projects including design, lift plan development and vetting, heavy lift supervision and construction methodology refinement.
  • Fulfill onsite temporary works design coordination for structural packages on assigned projects
  • Promote a culture of knowledge transfer across regions which drives innovation learnings throughout the business
  • Financial management including driving behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
  • Review Projects lift & shift requirements and early engagement with Projects for methodology development and training to address key project risks and empower project staff to manage day to day Lift & Shift activities
  • Provide advice on the requirements of Legislation and Regulations, Codes of Practice, Australian and international standards relevant to lifting, transport and rigging.
  • Assist with lifting operations education and awareness across the projects.


To be successful, you’ll have the following:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Extensive experience in the construction engineering and planning of heavy lift & transport engineering, including coordination of temporary works design and transforming from plan to delivery
  • Experience with civil works, precast, steel and FRP
  • Experience using AutoCAD & Crane Specialist Software for preparing Lift/Transport plan/s
