Gold Coast Light Rail has transformed public transport on the Gold Coast, helping create an integrated network that connects more people to more places in one of Australia's most dynamic and fastest growing cities.


John Holland is GoldlinQ's nominated design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7 kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including eight new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.


Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, and the City of Gold Coast, this city-shaping project will link communities to business centres, shopping, dining, education, and medical facilities and cater to the Gold Coast’s expected population growth in the coming decades.

We are currently recruiting for experienced Environmental Advisor to join the team and play a key role in the successful delivery of this iconic Gold Coast project. The role will coordinate the implementation of the project’s environment management programs to ensure adherence with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and contractual obligations


Key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Provide environmental guidance, diligence, and consistency to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and input into the identification and effective management of environmental risks.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing management of project environmental management systems.
  • Have background and experience in the management of Surface water and Groundwater, including monitoring & reporting.
  • Have background and experience in the management of Noise, Vibration and Dust, including monitoring & reporting.
  • Communicate environment matters to management and project staff as appropriate.
  • Support the management of environmental consultants and undertake field monitoring as required.
  • Support the maintenance of comprehensive environmental records.
  • Identify and initiate localised environment improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and communicate improvements to corporate and project environmental management processes.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company environmental requirements.
  • Ensure management is informed of any relevant changes to legal, regulatory and project environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental matters as required.
  • Report environmental performance, compliance, and defects.
  • Support project induction and environmental management systems/tools training

A bit about you


To be considered for this role there are a few essential requirements you must be able to demonstrate in your application,


  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering, Science, Sustainability, or other associated disciplines.
  • Construction environment management experience (3+ years).
  • Knowledge of Environmental obligations, compliance and reporting procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of undertaking Environmental incident investigations.
