About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?
As a Site Cost Controller, based at our Broadford site office, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of the project, ensuring costs are effectively managed and aligned with budgets and forecasts.
This role will support teams across multiple locations, including Wandong, Broadford, Seymour, and Tallarook.
You will work closely with project delivery leaders, commercial teams, and stakeholders to provide accurate reporting and insights to support decision-making.
Project Description
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works.
Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla.
Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;
Overall responsibility for the role on this high-profile major project includes:
- Provide technical knowledge and support in the development of the project site team forecasting and risk to the delivery engineers
- Monitor and analyse daily costs with delivery engineers
- Ensure correct allocation of costs in the financial system
- Compile and review monthly project reports and KPI’s
- Review and analyse project site results in relation to cost, budgets and forecasts.
- Interpret site forecasting results as they affect the financial position of the project and make recommendations for cost reduction and profit improvement.
- Compile, review and analysis forecast information to evaluate the final financial position of the project site.
- Liaise with the projects external auditors as required.
- Contribute to the ongoing training of delivery engineers in forecasting
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key personnel informed.
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures
To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;
- Tertiary qualifications in a accounting, finance, business, engineering, Quantity Surveying commerce/statistics or relevant discipline
- 5-10 years Construction Site Cost Control experience and/or experience in a similar role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels
- Highly developed computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS excel
