About the Project:
John Holland were awarded the contract to reconstruct two major sites on the Palmerston Highway (Millaa Millaa-Innisfail), which were severely damaged as a result of Tropical Cyclone Jasper.
Following complex geotechnical works, the permanent reconstruction works involve; cast in-situ concrete piles, soil nailing, gabion structures, landscaping and hydromulching.
The road was identified as requiring the highest priority reconstruction works across Far North Queensland.
About the Position:
As Cost Controller, you will control the finance and accounting methods, practices and procedures for the project, specifically for the end of month cycle. Additionally, prepare appropriate financial systems, accounting records, reports and other information, allowing senior management to make informed business decisions and thereby improve profitability.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Compile and review monthly project reports and KPI’s
- Obtain relevant PCR system financial reporting for the Project use in developing the end of month forecasting and reporting period
- Review and analyse operating results in relation to cost, budgets and operating policies. Consolidate capital asset, maintenance and operating budgets.
- Participate in the development of short and longer-term financial reporting and forecasting and oversee the implementation of agreed financial plans.
- Prepare schedules for financial reporting in accordance with management and statutory requirements.
- Assist in the development and input of the Projects financial cashflow for reporting purposes for both John Holland and client requirements.
- Monitor outstanding debtors and assist project Managers to resolve.
- Monitor and assist in the accurate monthly cost to date process for input within PCR and reporting at the completion of the end of month process
- Audit the procurement process and ensure that all requisitions and related invoices are authorised by the nominated person
- Audit project wage employee remuneration including timesheets.
- Interpret financial results and provide recommendations for cost control and profit improvement.
- Compile, review and analysis forecast information to evaluate the final financial position of the project
- Liaise with the projects/companies’ external auditors as required.
- Contribute to the training of finance and Project staff.
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key personnel informed.
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures
Requirements:
- CPA or equivalent tertiary accounting qualification
- Tertiary qualifications in a Business, Commerce/Statistics or relevant discipline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
- Highly developed computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS excel
