The John Holland, Seymour Whyte and AECOM Joint Venture (HSA) has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the Edmonton to Gordonvale (E2G) Project, south of Cairns. Project has commenced and is due to be complete early 2023.


The Bruce Highway – Cairns Southern Access Corridor – Stage 3: Edmonton to Gordonvale project is part of the 15-year Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, a $12.6 billion program of works to improve safety, flood resilience and capacity along the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Cairns. The program is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments. The works will deliver a total transport solution and long-term improvements to traffic flow and road safety through reducing congestion, reducing highway travel time and improving road access. 


We are seeking an experienced Earthworks Supervisor to join our operations team working on the E2G project, Cairns.


The roles key accountabilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Managing scope of works to ensure site-based activities are planned and delivered in advance of their target date, providing smart, safe construction solutions.
  • Ensure all site works are planned and delivered in compliance with required technical specifications, relevant legislation, approvals and standards and deed obligations.
  • Management of subcontractors.
  • Ensuring that positive relationships are maintained with internal and external stakeholders are developed.
  • An absolute commitment to Safety, ensuring OH&S requirements and risk controls are considered in all construction planning and processes.


The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Earthworks Supervision for Civil Contractor as well as;

  • An absolute commitment to ‘Safety First’ practises and lead by example
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement
  • A commitment to excellence and high-performance in a ‘right first time’ environment
  • Appreciation of the importance of ‘One Team’ understanding the importance of partnering with project support teams such as Safety, Quality, Community and Environment.
  • Ability to engage with and communicate at all levels driving positive outcomes
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Show an appreciation of commercial issues and understanding of representing the project’s best interests at all times.
