John Holland as part of a JV has recently been awarded a major works contract for the delivery of Light Rail Stage 2A – City to Commonwealth Park in Canberra ACT over the next 4 years. The project will see three new stops built at Edinburgh Avenue, City South and Commonwealth Avenue, extending the network by 1.7 kilometres.

 

This role will be based in Canberra with travel to Sydney required as needed until the project moves fulltime to Canberra in Q3 of 2024.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR & IR Manager to join the Rail and Transport team and play a key role in delivering Canberra Light Rail Stage 2A.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support all aspects of project mobilisation including establishing project-based people related processes and procedures, drive and manage project resourcing and onboarding, along with embed best practice people solutions on the project. 
  • Build and lead a team of dedicated project-based People resources across social procurement, workforce development and training.
  • Provide strategic People leadership as part of the project management team.
  • Coach and guide managers through all people related matters balancing best for project outcomes and employee experience.  
  • Partner closely with the broader People Teams across all joint venture partners, including COE’s to help support cyclical People processes. 
  • Develop innovative initiatives and influence project stakeholders to increase local, Indigenous, female and new entrant participation on the project.
  • Lead all project People activities including employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, performance and development, remuneration reviews, training, and project lifecycle initiatives.

To be successful you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field. 
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic People leadership at a senior level across all aspects of the employee life cycle and People disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in Industrial Relations including Enterprise Agreement negotiation and interpretation, stakeholder management and dispute resolution in a unionised environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to create effective teams with a strong focus on delivering outcomes.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, delegate, and make decisions that result in the desired outcome.
  • Project based experience is preferrable but not essential.
