About The Project:

We’re delighted to have been chosen by Melbourne Water to deliver a world-first solution for the rehabilitation of the Western Trunk Sewer (WTS).

We’ll be relining a 4.4km section of the existing sewer main using a technique known as slip-lining. And while the technology itself isn’t new, the challenge is, no one’s ever done it with such a large diameter pipe – in this case, 4.3 metres – AND in live flow conditions.

The Western Trunk Sewer is one of Melbourne Water’s most important assets, transferring approximately 57 per cent of the city’s total annual wastewater flow.

This project adds to the diverse portfolio of work we’re currently delivering for Melbourne Water.

We are looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Western Trunk Sewer project based at the Western Treatment Plant in Werribee, just about halfway between Geelong and Melbourne.

Your Role:

As a Senior Environmental Advisor, you will support and monitor the implementation of project environment and sustainability programs to ensure adherence with relevant environmental and sustainability legislation, regulations, contractual obligations and John Holland Health, Safety and Environmental procedures. 

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide environmental and sustainability guidance, diligence and consistency to internal stakeholders.
• Provide advice and input into the identification and effective management of environmental and sustainability risks.
• Support the implementation and ongoing management of project environmental and sustainability management systems.
• Support the communication of environment and sustainability matters to management and project staff.
• Support the maintenance of comprehensive environmental and sustainability records.
• Identify and initiate localised environment and sustainability improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental and sustainability matters as required.
• Support project induction, environmental and sustainability management systems/tools training.
• Support the communication of environmental/sustainability roles and responsibilities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company environmental/sustainability requirements.
• Support the communication process to keep management informed of any relevant changes to legal, regulatory and project environmental/sustainability requirements.
• Influence a positive Environmental and Sustainability culture across the project and John Holland. 
• Identify and communicate improvements to corporate and project environmental/sustainability management processes

About You:

• Bachelor's degrees in environmental engineering, Science, Sustainability or other associated disciplines
• Certificate IV in Environment
• Construction environment management (1+ years)
• Knowledge of compliance and reporting procedures and processes
• Knowledge of environmental management techniques and tools
• Knowledge and understanding of low-level incident investigations
• Reporting, auditing and risk management procedures and processes
• Reporting environmental performance, compliance, defects and non-compliance
