Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.

 

The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. This new section of rail corridor will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.

 

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Signalling Site Engineer to join the team on our Cootamundra based project.

The Site Engineer will support the daily delivery of signalling works on the project. The role is responsible for construction activities, manages subcontractors, ensures safety and quality compliance, and resolves onsite technical issues. It suits someone with rail experience, strong coordination skills, and a hands‑on approach to efficient site delivery.

 

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

-Construction management and specific technical skills base relevant to Signalling works in a rail environment

-Utilise effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management

-Work with key stake holders to allow timely completion of works

-Development and delivery of railway signalling and related systems

-Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities

-Understanding of the Project Design Management Plan, Quality Management Plan. Safety Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan

-Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning and legislative requirements

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

-Tertiary qualifications Construction / Engineering Discipline

-Demonstrated skills in programming, cost control, quality assurance, safety and supervision / people management

-Minimum 2 years engineering experience

-Previous work in a Rail environment, including Rail Signalling Systems

 

About you:

-Experience on complex Rail/Infrastructure projects

-Willing to DIDO 

-Be open to working a 2:1 roster (2 weeks on / 1 week off)

-Or, willing to relocate yourself within an hour’s commute of Cootamundra/Stockinbingal.
