About the Project
The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.
When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by, a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.
The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.
SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.
About the Role
Develop, implement, and maintain occupational hygiene management plans, processes, and procedures across the Linewide Project. Provide specialist advice and control
measures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and industry standards, supporting the Project Leadership Team in fostering a safe and
healthy work environment.
What you will do;
Develop and implement occupational hygiene management plans, including the Occupational Health and Hygiene Sub-Plan and Construction Ventilation Management Sub-Plan.
Guide and support the Project Leadership Team in establishing and maintaining an occupational hygiene culture aligned with the Alliance vision.
Conduct Level 1, 2, and 3 occupational hygiene risk assessments, identifying and mitigating hazards such as asbestos, dust, noise, vibration, and chemical exposures.
Coordinate and manage external consultants for occupational hygiene monitoring (e.g., asbestos air monitoring, noise assessments, air quality monitoring).
Oversee the development, implementation, and execution of the respiratory protective equipment (RPE) fit testing program for personnel exposed to airborne hazards.
Initiate and administer education programs to raise awareness of occupational hygiene hazards among employees, contractors, and visitors.
Investigate causes of occupational hygiene-related incidents and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences.
Maintain comprehensive occupational hygiene records, manage statutory reporting requirements, and monitor compliance and performance progress.
Stay up-to-date with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards related to occupational hygiene and communicate changes to the workplace.
Provide specialist support to internal stakeholders, including operational leaders, project employees, contractors, clients, and visitors, ensuring occupational hygiene compliance across the project lifecycle.
Develop project safety professionals to ensure robust day-to-day specialist support in occupational hygiene. Ensure the project has the tools and knowledge to meet its regulatory and legal obligations in occupational hygiene.
Support the effectiveness of the consultative framework and communicate occupational hygiene matters to management and staff as appropriate.

What we are looking for;
Qualification:
• Advanced Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
• Safety Lead Auditor Qualification
• Bachelor degree in Quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Management or other associated disciplines
• TAE Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Experience:
• Demonstrated Construction safety management in a major project.
• Demonstrated Audit Management experience.
• Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
• Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes (especially those relating to Comcare), and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
• Knowledge of Environmental legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
