The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.
When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.
The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.
SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.
About the Role
We are seeking an Instrumentation and Monitoring Manager to be involved in the coordination of the SRL Linewide ground movement, structural vibration, and ground water level monitoring function, inclusive of subcontractor management, installation, data gathering and interpretation, through Linewide Alliance delivery.
Your role will be to assist senior members of the Engineering Team in managing the instrumentation and monitoring (I&M) delivery and data processes by coordinating technical partner designs across I&M and ensuring the active engagement of construction personnel during design development and delivery, providing a line of communication between site to the Design Team and I&M subcontractors to assist with I&M delivery and interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall collection and management of the project Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) database
- Execute the planning and installation of instruments in compliance with the project Instrumentation and Monitoring Management Plan
- Preparation of method statements for the installation of geotechnical instruments including inclinometers, piezometers, extensometers, survey targets, settlement gauges and data loggers
- Coordinate internal training, onboarding and support to LWA resources in relation to use of the I&M database.
- Plan and coordinate the installation of instruments with I&M subcontractors in accordance with design and specification requirements
- Manage the handover and receipt of all required instrumentation and monitoring data from the other interface packages
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of data being collected and uploaded to the MIMS system including compliance against PS&TR requirements
- Set up of automated reports, alerts and graphs on the MIMS system to enable interpretation of the information
- Establish the alert, alarm and trigger system in accordance with design requirements and timely distribution of these reports.
- Daily monitoring of sensor outputs, data validation and process operation.
- Responsible for coordination with the Engineering, Delivery, Designers and external Stakeholders as necessary
- Plan and undertake routine maintenance of instruments including trouble shooting issues arising with monitoring and/or monitoring quality
- Preparation of I&M reports and management plans in accordance with project requirements
- Participate in I&M review meetings including MAT meetings with I&M outputs
- Prepare the decommissioning/ handover of instruments and monitoring data in accordance with project requirements
About You
You will hold a tertiary qualification in Engineering or Surveying and bring substantial multidisciplinary experience specialising in design, engineering, and construction or survey, with specific experience in bulk earthworks and geotechnical design.
Experience coordinating technical teams and subcontractors in the delivery of design and engineering solutions for bids and alliances is essential, alongside demonstrated capability in planning and budget management.
Your influencing skills and collaborative approach, supported by a well-developed understanding of design risk, will see you succeed in the role.
