About the Project

 

The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.

 

When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by, a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.

 

The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.

 

SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

 

About the Role

 

Provide leadership of the design and engineering of HV protection and control systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and project requirements.

 

Primarily focused on ensuring that all elements of the HV system are safety compliant for people and plant and coordinated through a multidisciplinary stream. Transitioning to an integrator focused role to ensure that all works packages works are integrated, tested and commissioned. Coordinate on-site engineering functions for allocated projects to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for testing and commissioning activities.

What you will do;

 

  • Technical leadership of the design and engineering functions related to HV power including coordination between Utility suppliers upstream and end users downstream of the HV supply.
  • Leadership and accountability on the Power Scada Systems.
  • Management of coordination between vendors and internal project teams to ensure seamless integration between designs and systems. 
  • Manage engineering functions through subordinates, which may include Project Engineers, Engineering Coordinators and Cost/Planning Engineers.  
  • Obtain relevant vendor information for incorporation into detailed designs and specifications. 
  • Transitioning into Delivery and Commissioning to provide technical support and leadership through the entire lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme work loads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved. 
  • Accurate forecasts of costs and revenue and utilise corrective action in line with JH’s authority and reporting frameworks to maximise the profit margin.  
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of works. 

What we are looking for;

 

Qualification:

Tertiary qualification in Engineering – Electrical, mechatronics, or Controls  
Chartership with Engineer’s Australia or equivalent 
Rail Industry Worker (preferred)  

 

Experience:

Demonstrated post-graduate experience in engineering-based roles, ideally rail experience.

Experience of technical delivery of design and engineering solutions on large infrastructure projects. 

Planning and budget management included demonstrating overall cost optimisation and/or best for project decisions. 

Basic knowledge of contractual, legal, commercial, and legislative compliance. 

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders of all levels. 

Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specifications, standards, and implications for project accountabilities.
