About the Project

 

The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.

 

When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by, a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.

 

The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.

 

SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

 

About the Role

 

As a Senior Environment Advisor you will ensure project compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, contractual obligations and John Holland Health, Safety and Environmental procedures through the development, implementation and maintenance a project wide environmental management system.

What you will do;

 

•    Ensuring Project EMS meets the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 14001:2016.
•    Actively participate in regular external audits.
•    Sound knowledge of all legislation with regards to Waste Management, Groundwater, Surfacewater, ERSED, Gas and Geological conditions.
•    Managing and monitoring compliance with all environmental approvals, licences, and permits and audit schedules relating to the Project and the CEMP.
•    Implementing and compliance with EMF and associated EPRs.
•    Leading environmental targets tracking for the Project.
•    Monitoring project activities for compliance with environmental and legislative requirements.
•    Ensuring environmental risk contingency measures are developed and implemented as required.
•    Advising on measures to prevent or minimise environmental harm in the event of an emergency.
•    Preparing Project environmental reports to provide updates to the senior management team as required.
•    Attending monthly meetings with the environmental representatives to report on progress against the EPRs, CEMP and WEMPs and any other related matters.
•    Implementing an adaptive approach for continuous environmental improvement.
•    Support the maintenance of comprehensive environmental records.
•    Support the communication of environment matters to management and project staff.

What we are looking for;

 

•    Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science or other associated disciplines.
•    Significant experience as an Environmental Advisor in construction or equivalent.
•    Knowledge of environmental statutes and legislation.
•    Knowledge of relevant management systems (quality and risk).
•    Training and facilitation experience in high risk environmental activities such as spill response/waste management/groundwater management/ground gas.
•    Skill in quantitative and qualitative environmental risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
•    Expert understanding of waste legislation. 
•    Ability to lead high level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties.
•    Ability to integrate quickly and work as part of a team.
