About the Project

 

The Linewide Alliance, comprising John Holland, Alstom, RATP Dev, KBR and WSP, are excited to be delivering the transformative Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide package.

 

When SRL opens, the new rail services for passengers will also be delivered by, a venture between RATP Dev and John Holland to operate and maintain the franchise for 15 years from 2035, to be known as TransitLinx.

 

The Alliance will deliver a world-class, service-proven driverless metro system that sets new benchmarks for comfort, safety, and reliability for Melbourne.

 

SRL is a transport and urban planning project that will deliver world-class public transport, reduce travel times, and support the delivery of more homes and housing.

 

About the Role

 

The Track, PSD and Communications Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, delivery, and commissioning of rail track, PSD, DAS Tunnel Communication Systems fit out. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to required engineering standards, while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders within a complex rail environment. 

What you will do;

 

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers for track, PSD and DAS tunnel communications fit-out, related works.
  • Lead the delivery of track construction,
  • Ensure all technical requirements comply with rail engineering standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Manage procurement activities including tendering, contract administration, and supplier engagement.
  • Oversee possession planning, access requirements, and coordination with operations.
  • Champion a strong safety culture in compliance with rail safety legislation and organisational requirements.
  • Ensure all works comply with WHS, environmental, and quality assurance standards.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety briefings.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, signalling, civil, and construction teams.
  • Provide regular project reporting to senior leadership and external stakeholders.

 

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Assess and manage variations, claims, and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure procurement activities meet commercial and ethical standards.

 

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project engineers and site personnel.
  • Manage performance, capability, and development of allocated staff.

What we are looking for;

 

Qualification:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related)
  • Rail industry safeworking competencies (e.g., Rail Industry Worker).
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or equivalent experience.

 

Experience:

  • Extensive experience delivering rail track, PSD and DAS Communication Systems with a strong knowledge of engineering, construction methods, and rail standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in a rail environment.
  • Proven project management experience across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality.
  • Strong commercial acumen and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with major rail programs.
  • Experience with systems integration.
  • Exposure to alliance or collaborative contracting models.
