About the role

 

We are currently taking applications for a Mechanical Fitter with our Rail Services division in South Auckland. We are seeking a reliable and motivated candidate who is looking for a long-term career in a rapidly growing industry. This is an amazing opportunity to develop new skills and become part of an award-winning team.

 

The key responsibilities & skills essential for the role are:

 

  • Maintain various items of rolling stock and mobile plant used within the rail industry including:
  • Resurfacing machines (Ballast Tampers/Regulators),
  • Track re-sleepering and renewal equipment,
  • Road Rail Vehicles,
  • Mobile Flash Butt Welders,
  • Light vehicles and trucks,
  • Elevated Work platforms,
  • Small plant.
  • Conduct fabrication, machine overhauls, servicing & repairs.
  • Conduct hydraulic & electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Ability to work from technical drawings, electrical & hydraulic schematics.
  • Hold a Cert 3 in Heavy Plant Mechanic or Mechanical Trade or Automotive Electrical trade certificate/s or equivalent.
  • Current Construction Industry Induction card
  • Valid C-class drivers licence (MR/HR truck licence preferred)
  • Ability to write maintenance reports
  • Ability to undergo extensive pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing.
  • Current Rail Industry Worker card and advantage.
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft office programs
  • Previous experience Plant equipment hazard assessment or technical assessment and report writing.
