Job Description

John Holland manages the prestigious Country Regional Network (CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines.

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Rail Plant Services team based in Dubbo. The purpose of this role is to undertake Mechanical Maintenance tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of CRN’s various mobile plant and equipment assets and wider project support in relation to Routine and Project Maintenance activities. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include:
Provide direct Mechanical Fitting trade skills to the CRN Rail Plant Services team.
Repair and maintain rail mobile plant and equipment assets.
Test and inspect new and altered plant for commissioning purposes.
Participate in roster in providing project support to MPM and RM discipline activities
Participate in the practicable safety culture at all levels and promote and encourage a safe work environment, at all times
Ensure the technical quality of repair and maintenance works undertaken are compliant with standards
Develop Mechanical Fitting trade skills and capability and competence through training
Be committed to and conduct all safety activities in accordance with the JHG Safety Policy Statement and procedures
Be committed to all Quality and Environmental activities in accordance with the CRN JHG Quality Policy Statement and Procedures
Work within a team with either a Monday to Friday working roster and occasional weekend works, or an 8-day roster.
Work within both a workshop and field service environments with significant travel required throughout the CRN network

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:
Trade Certification in Heavy Automotive, Heavy Diesel Mechanical Fitting or equivalent.
Construction induction Blue/White card
C – Class Drivers Licence (HR preferred)
Extensive and proven experience with Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fault finding, repair, testing and commissioning
Extensive and proven experience in the Mechanical repair and maintenance of various mobile plant including EWPs, Vehicle Loading Cranes, Generators, Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steers Etc.
Experience on Rail specific mobile plant including Plasser Tampers, Ballast Regulators, Hi- Rail Vehicles is highly desirable.
Live in the Bathurst local area or be willing to relocate at own cost.
