About the Project


The John Holland and Seymour Whyte Joint Venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the Bruce Highway Upgrade Maroochydore Road and Mons Rd (M2M) Interchanges Project.


The BHMIP Project will deliver upgrades to the Maroochydore Road and Mons Road interchanges, provide two-way service roads on the western and eastern side of the Bruce Highway, extend Owen Creek Road to Sunshine Coast Grammar School, and install new drainage structures to maintain and improve flood immunity.

John Holland and Seymour Whyte Joint Venture has an opportunity for an experienced Contracts Administrator for a 12-month parental leave contract.

About the role


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Process and recommend progress claims for work completed and refer disputed claims by subcontractors to the relevant manager for decision
  • Undertake general business administration, including vendor set up and management, processing and monitoring of correspondence, attendance at and participation in subcontractor meetings
  • Manage and drive the review process to ensure the award of all subcontractors within the required time frame and budget, and ensuring all compliance aspects are met
  • Maintain registers of subcontracts, variations and delays.
  • Operate and maintain commercial and contract systems including Project Costs Reporting (PCR), Asset Registers, Commercial Pack database and project dashboards.   
  • Minimise all subcontractor variation claims and elimination of claims where possible, ensuring assessment in accordance with the relevant subcontract agreement
  • Ensure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and cost codes are accurately maintained and keep project management teams abreast of any cost’s issues immediately upon identification
  • Draft scopes of works and tender packages to accompany requests for quotations issued to subcontractors for projects
  • Conduct initial investigations with subcontractors to clarify the organisation’s conditions relating to contracts for prospective projects
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure that Building Code Compliance is maintained at all times and attend weekly subcontractor meetings
  • Check compliance and prepare reporting on commercial performance of the contract

About you


For this role we're ideally looking for the following attributes:


  • 2-5 years’ experience working as a Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor in the construction and engineering industry
  • Experience in negotiating with sub-contractors
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce or equivalent
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant software packages such as Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and exposure to a contract management system
  • Experience with a variety of project values and complexity
  • Understanding of document control experience in accordance with records management procedures
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation/code on the project to prevent potential business exposure
