About our TEK Digital Engineering and Technology Team

TEK’s (Technology, Engineering & Knowledge) DE (Digital Engineering) & Technology team assist and support our business digital transformation objectives. Our team has multi-disciplinary experience in implementing and applying solutions across various functions, including DE, GIS, and Surveying.
Our connection to local and global markets means our team is at the forefront of digital delivery. We provide cross-sector support at various stages, from early planning to delivery, enabling our project teams to navigate the adoption of digital solutions.

John Holland has a unique opportunity for a Digital Engineering Manager to lead and coordinate DE Management activities on the iconic Brisbane CBD based Waterfront project. 

This role will provide specialist DE solutions to both design and delivery phase of the project as well as developing technical capabilities and expertise of project staff.

About the Role:

  • Plan and control the delivery of DE for the project
  • Establish and implement DE workflows and processes that support project objectives.
  • Promote TEK’s DE capability and its advantages to both John Holland and its clients.
  • Responsible for the management of project information models for all disciplines.
  • Deliver DE solutions where engaged to do so.
  • Provide support to Interdisciplinary Review, Seeking and resolving issues through close interaction with project team members. 
  • Perform DE Management and Coordination activities where required.
  • Assist Group Manager in implementation and execution of the DE strategy including new technologies
  • Act as an authority and provide technical guidance on the application DE practices.
  • Review and document design coordination conflicts. 
  • Manage Digital Engineering practice where engaged to do so. 
  • Schedule and facilitate coordination meetings along with project manager and/or design manager. 
  • Meet with designers/stakeholders as required to facilitate DE practices.
  • Develop high value use cases including the documentation of processes, applicability and value proposition to the BU.
  • Participate in a Digital Engineering Community of Practice (COP) including introducing and up-skilling project resources and the adoption of innovation practices
  • Provide strong DE leadership and advice to precontract and delivery phase projects.
  • Provide training support through coaching and sharing of knowledge. 
  • Ensure all appropriate knowledge and technical solutions are communicated to functional and line management, as well as TEK Service Delivery team.
  • Ensure effective and appropriate collaboration and communication approaches are used within JHG to maximise the value offering within the market and unifying TEK message to all external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all operations are compliant with TEK / JHG Policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate and behave in a way that is consistent with JHG principles and code of business conduct.
  • Maintain a strong industry presence in Digital Engineering through local, national and international organisations. Advocate JHG capability through industry engagements

About You

This position will require you to hold a Degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Built Environment or Architecture and have extensive Construction industry experience, with a significant portion of this being DE Management experience on large multi discipline projects where you will have mentored junior DE Managers and Coordinators.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

o    Exposure to working within the pre-contract’s environment on multiple tenders at once
o    Working knowledge and understanding in Design & Construction Management Practice, Process and Procedures
o    Experience with one of the following design solutions: Autodesk Revit, Bentley Microstation, Open Roads, Open Rail, Civil3D, 12d Model
o    Working knowledge of ISO19650, PAS1192-2:2013, BS1192:2007, and other relevant DE specific standards 

The ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions, produce reports and make recommendations to senior management/leadership team is essential, as is your capability in building and nurturing key relationships.

Your excellent oral and written communication skills will see you able to communicate complex scenarios.
