About the Position:
As the Regional Cost Planning Manager for QLD/NT, you will lead the cost planning and estimating functions specifically for building projects in the region. You’ll collaborate with our pre-contracts, delivery, and project teams to deliver accurate cost plans and estimates that align with John Holland's strategic goals and the unique demands of the Building Division. This role is critical in achieving competitive bids, supporting project wins, and ensuring financial and operational success.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the cost planning and estimating function for building projects in the QLD/NT region, ensuring high-quality and accurate submissions for tenders and bids
- Develop and manage regional cost planning strategies tailored to the Building Division to support business growth and competitiveness
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather accurate cost data and market insights specific to the building sector
- Oversee the preparation of cost plans, estimates, and budgets for a variety of large scale building projects, including commercial, healthcare, sporting venue & stadia amongst others
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the regional cost planning team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the region
- Conduct risk analysis, cost benchmarking, and value engineering to optimise building project outcomes
- Ensure compliance with John Holland’s policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Stay up to date with market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies in the building sector to drive innovation in cost planning practices
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and joint venture partners
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior cost planning or estimating role within the building construction industry, with tier one contractor being highly advantageous
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams to achieve high performance
- A deep understanding of cost planning methodologies, tools, and software
- Excellent knowledge of the QLD/NT building construction markets, including subcontractor and supplier networks
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related discipline
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering results
