We are seeking a skilled Senior Competency Management Systems & Training Advisor to oversee governance and provide expert support for project-based competency and training throughout project launch and delivery. This pivotal role ensures the effective establishment, governance, and optimisation of competency management systems, while also providing tailored training advisory services to meet project-specific requirements.

About the Role

Competency Management Systems:

  • Contribute to the establishment and optimisation of competency management systems at project launches in collaboration with system vendors and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with John Holland and project-specific training requirements and standards.
  • Provide hyper care support post-implementation, ensuring successful adoption by key stakeholders, including People teams, Engineers, Health and Safety teams, and project supervision staff.  This may require some interstate travel.
  • Conduct regular audits of training systems and processes to ensure compliance and maintain high standards.
  • Assist projects in troubleshooting and upskilling team members in the use of competency management systems.
  • Support onboarding new project-based personnel into competency management systems and assist with related administrative tasks.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in competency management systems and processes.

Training:

  • Support the establishment of training management processes during project launches.
  • Assist with implementing training strategies for projects until training personnel are recruited, ensuring training targets are met.
  • Provide tailored training advisory services to meet the unique needs of various projects and stakeholders, including guidance on John Holland’s standards, best practices, and emerging trends in workforce skill development.

About You

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)

Key skills and experience:

  • Specialised knowledge of construction industry training.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Qualification Framework (AQF), RTO certification, and regulatory/legislative requirements for construction training.
  • Expertise in training management on projects and providing tailored training advisory services.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining training processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience with competency management systems, including 3DSafety and RIW systems, with capabilities in system establishment, adoption, troubleshooting, and administration.
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and finding ways to improve, automate, and digitise processes and tools.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Exposure to safety systems and processes in construction projects.
  • Understanding and experience in the development and implementation of Social Inclusion Programs.
